Oh! The Places You’ll Go: Club Field Trip Week

For the month of July, it was our Club campers (18 and under) who headed out of our ESP building to experience all the adventures the state of Georgia has to offer.

Monday

On Monday, our campers started their week with a splash at the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center. With a splash pad on one side of the park and a pool on the other side, our campers were more than happy to be cool and stay cool all at the same time. Our campers love swimming and so they always have a great time when they can get their feet in the water! Nathan especially enjoyed the water park and splashing around all day long!

Tuesday

Tuesday morning, we headed to ATL to check out all the animals at the zoo! The campers spent all day walking around observing the different animals-some of our campers even braved the reptile house! Amelia found her favorite animal at the panda exhibit. Carolena stopped at every sign to learn all about the new animals she was seeing. The petting zoo was a huge hit with our campers since they interacted with some of the animals and had the chance to get out of their comfort zone! Once again, ESPers all loved cooling off at the splash pad at the end of the day.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we brought the fun to Funopolis! Funopolis had all kinds of activities for our campers – including video games, go karts, putt putt, bumper cars, mini bowling, and more. Marc loved Funopolis day as he got to show off his mad gaming skills to his buddy. Toby enjoyed the roller coaster ride experience and Faith scored the highest of any camper in laser tag! All of the campers utilized their need for speed at the go karts as they raced around and around the track through the afternoon.

Thursday

Thursday brought another fun adventure for our water bug campers as our Club kids headed to Helen to tube down the Chattahoochee River. The older campers had such a great time in June so this time we had to take the younger squad. All the campers tubed down the river to cookie cake and ice cream waiting for them at the end. Then our campers loaded up the buses and napped the whole trip back to the building. Everybody needed to rest up to end their Club Field Trip week with an energetic Friday!

Friday

Friday morning had our ESP family exercising their creativity as they rotated through art stations that included pottery, jewelry making, and painting. Kirkland painted a wooden dinosaur which he completed with his best dinosaur roar in the studio as he proudly showed his creation to all his friends. At the jewelry station, campers had the chance to choose their own colors, styles, and patterns. Kody really embraced his inner sculptor as he had a great time at the clay station! He loved getting to mold it, roll it, and ultimately he created a clay mask as his final product.

After arts and crafts, everyone ended Club Field Trip week by going to see the new live-action Lion King! All our campers came back to the building singing the songs and working on their roars.

Club Field Trip week finished off our Grand Slam Summer with our younger campers, but we can’t wait to see them all at our 360 programs in the fall. We’re sad summer is over, but I guess that’s just the Circle of Camp – I mean Life.
