Up All Night: Club CTL Week

Overnight camp is a rite of passage, an essential part of any childhood and all around a great time. This past week, our ESP Club campers packed up their gear and headed to Camp Twin Lakes!

Waiting to greet them at Camp Twin Lakes were their buddies! Buddies were excited to meet their cabin family for the week. The cabins are truly a family – eating together, experiencing activities together, and giggling together way past their bedtimes! Each cabin had its own theme and flag outside their cabin all week to truly claim their cabin as their squad hangout. Some of our cabin themes included Sunshine Girls, Super Heroes, and The Little Nuggets!

Each day, campers were up early to grab breakfast before rotating through a variety of activities. Campers had the chance to zip line, rock climb, horseback ride, craft, drum, play GaGa ball or kickball, boat or fish! It was a nonstop chance for our campers to discover new passions and just spend time with their friends. After all these activities, campers headed to the dining hall for a lunch break. After lunch and some downtime in the cabin, everyone was beyond excited because it was pool time! ESP loves to be at the pool where we can cool off, hang with our friends, and even enjoy the Camp Twin Lakes water slide! There was always a long line at the water slide as our fearless campers went down the slide again and again.

All the activities really gave our campers a chance to grow and get out of their comfort zone! It was Augusta’s first time at overnight camp with ESP and she loved crafts and was super eager to work her way up the rock wall for the first time. Logan was first down the zip line and helped encourage his friends from the cabin with his bravery. Ainsworth went down the water slide at the pool, and the whole ESP family cheered as he splashed into the water.

Each day, we also enjoyed a special daily activity together.. One night, everybody watched a movie together in the gym. To celebrate our first night together, everyone roasted smores around the campfire. One day there was Wacky Olympics the included a slip and slide, spraying each other with water guns, and shaving cream beach ball fights. One of the biggest crowd favorites, however, is the talent show. Campers and staff alike buzzed with excitement all week in anticipation of the Club CTL talent show Thursday night. Of course, our campers didn’t disappoint bringing their many talents (comedy, dancing and even mental math) to the stage.

Overnight camp solidifies the friendships between our campers. They get to spend a lot of quality time together and make life-long memories together participating in the activities they choose. Harvey and Evan bonded over doing a puzzle this week. Logan and Issac rocked out at the talent show together creating a great memory for them as friends but also the rest of camp! While their campers are building confidence and relationships away from home, mom and dad get a much deserved week of respite.

Camp Twin Lakes is a special week of camp that our ESP staff and campers never forget! To hear about all the CTL memories join us for Friend Friday July 12 and 19. Friend Friday is an energetic way to start your day with Flag, our crazy time of dancing and celebrating campers, or through a cup of Java Joy coffee. Either way, your Friday morning will be extra special.
