Club Field Trip week was SO much fun. We got to explore around town and enjoy the summer sunshine!
On Monday, we split into groups and went to Butterfly Dreams Farm to horse around.. We got a firsthand look at taking care of horses leading them around the corral, brushing them, and passing out lunch. Hay isn’t my idea of a good meal, but they sure enjoyed it! The horses loved all of the attention!
The other group of campers headed out to Athens Clarke County Library. We got to cool off for a bit and listen to the story of Peter Pan. We loved how Peter Pan got to hang out with his friends and stay busy with mischievous activities. Sounds a lot like our summer! We put our Peter Pan knowledge to work building a fort fit for any lost boy and even making our own fairy dust! How about that for a magical first day of Club Field Trip week!
On Tuesday we met up at ESP and loaded the buses for Cuscowilla Country Club. Say that three times fast. There was so much to do!! From chilling out in the lake, boating, tubing and swimming, our day went by too fast. We snapped on our life vests, lathered on a heavy amount of sunscreen and ran for the water. Give us floaties and some cool water and we can make it the best day ever.
Our friends at Cuscowilla even brought their dogs around to say hello. Puppy kisses and a lake day; what more could we ask for?
By Wednesday, we needed a break from the heat. We headed to Ovation cinema to see The Peanuts Movie. We loved seeing one of our favorites, Charlie Brown. We may have left with too many popcorn crumbs on our shirts. While we were out, we stopped by Skate Inn to skate around for a bit. We laced up our skates and grabbed on tight to our buddies. We used every amount of coordination we had to keep our balance!
Thursday called for some good times in the sunshine. We went to Helen to go tubing! Marc Pizza with the GoPro was a moment for the books. Check out those selfies on our Facebook page! Things got a little bumpy near the rapids, but everyone managed to stay afloat.
It was finally Friday and we still had a lot left to do. First, what’s a Friday without some time at Camp Hooray? We got there for… SURPRISE, a birthday celebration for Jake! There was cake, a bounce house, and music. Kate from Artini’s stopped in for an art lesson too. We were dreaming of white sandy beaches and blue oceans while she helped us paint a cool beach scene.
In the afternoon, we were really glad we got a chance to practice our balancing skills on Wednesday! We channeled our inner acrobats by swinging around at Canopy Athens. They taught us about using the trapeze. We swung, danced, and practiced our hula hooping skills. We were working all of our creative muscles on Friday!
We were sad to see our younger campers for the last week this summer, but we’re looking forward to an amazing time at Camp Twin Lakes. Check back for our last summer blog post about our fabulous NKAers. Our summer is winding down but we certainly aren’t!
