Tribal Summer – Week 1

By Katharine Manroe

Our first week of camp absolutely FLEW by – we can’t believe it’s already over. Whether we were catching up with old friends, forming new friendships, lounging by the pool, or bowling strikes – we had an absolute blast every step of the way! Thank you to everyone who made this amazing week of camp possible! We are looking forward to making even more memories this summer!

Morning Flag

Our Vocational Unit getting into the spirit of flag!

Flag is a longstanding camp tradition and is a favorite among campers and staff alike. Every morning, we all gather in the backyard to start of the day the ESP Way! Camp is the best way to show pride for your tribe and have fun with your friends. From singing songs, to funny skits, to handing out brags – flag is undoubtedly the best way to start the day!!

Both Shelby and Jeremiah were ecstatic when they were recognized in front of all their friends by receiving a brag during flag!

Shelby was so excited to receive a brag from her buddy!

Jeremiah receiving his brag from Maddie!

John, Eric, Megan, and Chris decided to have their own pool party!

This week our campers were able to go swimming at Legion Pool! Swimming was a first for some of our campers, while others were excited to hop back in the water. Either way, everyone loved hanging out at Legion Pool with their friends! We had so much fun swimming around like fish this week!

We even got to go bowling at Showtime! Everyone was able to show off their ESP pride in their Tribal Summer shirts. We had a blast being able to bowl with all our friends!

Cory was all smiles at Showtime!

Color Wars at Camp Hooray

Madison was excited to show off her colors!

As part of Fun Friday, everyone headed over to Camp Hooray for Color Wars! No one was safe from the pain wars! We also had a finger painting station, a bouncy house, and a big banner to splatter paint with friends.

Vince couldn’t stop smiling and laughing over at Camp Hooray!

Morning Rotations

Thomas loves arts and crafts!

We always get to do the most entertaining stuff during morning rotations! We love getting to sing and dance during Music with Maddie! You never know what ESPete has planned – we got to play human foosball this week! The Older Middle Unit was able to make salsa and paper airplanes, while the Younger Middle Unit had fun making lion megaphones. The Middle Unit got artistic by making arrow art, while the Youngest Unit tested their culinary skills by making ice cream! The Oldest Unit also got crafty by making their own picture frames to house pictures of themselves with their buddies!

Emily and Grant had so much fun making paper airplanes together!

Who wouldn’t want to play human foosball?
