Join ESP for an entire day of family-friendly fun, food, and games! You can participate in the family adventure run or put together a team for the tug-of-war competition.
The run begins at 1:30pm with registration at 11:30pm. Lunch begins at noon and an awards ceremony follows the run and tug competitions. The registration fee is $25 per family and increases to $30 after September 1. The $25 registration fee includes one Family Team or one Youth Team, lunch, and participation prizes.
Family Team: includes at least 1 adult and up to 5 kids Youth Team: consists of 2 to 4 youth aged 10-18
Teams are made up of 5 tuggers each, and they will compete in brackets against other teams in their category. The two categories are:
Lightweights: teams of individuals under 180 pounds
Lugs: teams of individuals over 180 pounds
To tug, teams will create a fundraising page and raise a minimum of $500. A single team leader can create a page for everyone or each member can have their own page within the team. Make it a competition between team members! The winning teams in each category will be awarded following the competition.
It’s going to be a fun and competitive way to spend the day. Expect teams of policemen, firefighters, and community leaders all tugging for their county. Spectators can cheer teams on to a very muddy victory and awards will be given to Highest Fundraiser and Strongest Teams.
The Tug of Love began in 2014 when Lead Jackson and more than 75 local businesses & organizations contributed to the Tug of Love benefiting the Jackson County Special Needs Summer Camp, formerly known as Wellspring. Each donation – large and small – contributed to the overall success of the event and to furthering our mission of providing children and adults with special needs and their families acceptance, hope, and the opportunity to not just survive, but to thrive. For our 2018 event, we are offering the opportunity for businesses to show their support for Camp Hooray and ESP and to be recognized as a Sponsor of the Big Trail & Tug!
